Websites still matter.

Like, a lot.

In this age of social media mania, it’s easy to assume that your website doesn’t matter as much as it used to but they are still a vital part of your businesses branding tool kit (along with audience-focused branding, positioning and a strong social media presence.)
Why? It’s all about trust.

Here’s how:

  • Your website is the first impression of your business where consistent branding, high-quality images and clear messaging are imperative. Nothing you say can overcome the obstacles of a half-done site with poor image quality and design elements that are outside of your brand standards. Think of your website as part of the experience of going to a restaurant. The atmosphere alone will give you an idea of the meal you’re about to have without taking one bite. Would you trust a restaurant that has a piece of paper on the door for a sign and dirty floors?

  • Your website is your branding home base. While you have some wiggle room for creativity and brand departures on your social media, your website must be ground zero for your brand in order to be trustworthy to your audience. It’s also the home base for your most important information like your services, hours and location. Make sure those are correct, easy to find and repeated throughout the site.

  • Your website brings home the bacon. Even if you’re not seeing a ton of traffic or you’re not generating leads with your website, it’s part of the package that your audience will use to gauge your trustworthiness. Without a website, yes. you’re losing business but a bad site can be just as damaging, if not more because an unprofessional site equates with an unprofessional business.

Here’s some examples of sites we’ve created for our clients that keep all of the above in mind.

Jaci Lund
Jaci Lund partner, creative director, designer Jaci’s quick wit and native intelligence comes across as soon as you meet her—and carries over to her design, where she fuses fun and sophistication in just the right doses. With a dual focus on creating original branding for new concepts and revitalizing the look and feel of even the most-established brands, Jaci approaches each project with a fresh and thoughtful perspective. While she recognizes the relevance of current trends, she’s hyper-conscious of the fine line that separates “trend” from “fad,” and tends toward more timeless and classic looks for her clients. Before founding Treebird, Jaci was instrumental in growing the design department at Atlanta’s The Reynolds Group, Inc. Through a five-year tenure that saw her quickly ascend to senior designer and then become the company’s first creative director, Jaci worked on design and branding projects with visionaries, entrepreneurs, and business leaders whom she admires greatly and whose own passion elevates her sense of what’s possible through new design, branding, and communication. Jaci has won nine ADDY Awards (and counting) for her design and branding work and has twice been featured in the national design blog “Art of the Menu.” She holds a B.A. in communications from Michigan State University and completed the graphic design program at The Creative Circus, where she also teaches a quarterly course called “Introduction to Creative Thinking.” To see Jaci's previous work please visit jacilund.com.
