Everything You Need To Know About Social Media Branding

One of the most critical things on social media is your brand. To begin sharing everything you need to know about social media branding, we’ll start with the foundation. The Branding Journal defines branding as "the process of giving meaning to a specific organization, company, products or services by creating and shaping a brand in consumers' minds.” Today, Treebird Branding discusses what exactly that “meaning” may look like, and how important it is to stand out in your own social media content.

Organic growth is the key to gaining more business and building up your brand. What’s more organic than your own brand’s actual voice? You may be wondering what that actually means. Your brand voice is the way you talk and interact with customers. It revolves around your communication abilities and is directed towards your target audience. Here are a few examples of accounts that do a great job:

  • The Los Angeles Chargers Twitter account is consistently sharing behind-the-scenes content with their 1 million followers. The content is trendy, professional and perfectly directed to not only Chargers fans but generally social media users. Their Tiktok account is another great example in that they constantly hop on new trends and produce viral videos for that reason. So whether users are fans or not, their content is typically well received because of the fun brand voice the Chargers use.

  • Wendy’s Twitter account is a classic example of brand voice. While they offer customer service help, they also provide humorous replies and interactions with other brands. This could be a great way to encourage people to try new menu items.

Those two big brand examples can still be applied to however big or small your brand is. Knowing the right way to connect with your audience is the beginning of a long-term relationship you want to make flourish. Your social media content needs to serve a purpose. The number of items you post will not have a lasting impact on your audience unless you’re able to use the right voice to do so.

Another important aspect of social media branding that you need to know is the amount of useful data it collects. There are nearly 500,000 tweets sent out each day, so how will yours stand out amongst all of the social brandings? One we have already mentioned is your tone, but another great piece of advice is to use data. Data can be used to target new and potential members of your target audience. Examples of using data can be advertisements, influencer marketing, audience profiles, new product or user research. The most powerful tool is the data you are able to access. It allows you to know key points like what time of day your followers are most active, their age range, what part of the world they are seeing your content in and more about what content interests them.

Analytics will be able to share with you an exact number of how many accounts not only saw your post but interacted in some way. Whether they shared with a friend or engaged by liking/commenting, it will be made known to you through analytics.

Another important part of social branding is public relations. This is a great way to build up your brand’s credibility. Public relations is the ability and consistency of having a favorable image and a mutually beneficial relationship between a brand and its audience. Creating social media content is simply like a building block of marketing and communications. PR is an essential part of social media branding because it’s an ideal way to gain attention from your audience in a budget-friendly way. After your brand has been built up and gained credibility, you will have an easier time conducting marketing campaigns because of the amount of good PR you have received. With paid social campaigns, it is essential for your brand to create a cohesive message. If your message is not consistent throughout the various platforms and pieces of content, it can easily distract and confuse your audience. Especially when running a paid campaign, you want to make sure there is no chance of that happening. Creating content is time-consuming when done correctly, but pays off tremendously in the grand scheme of things. So, find your goal and stick to it! Engage your audience by posting content surrounding that message and find ways to entertain by being creative. After all, that is what social media content and social branding are for: having a creative outlet.
