What Is A Social Media Strategy?

Essentially, a social media strategy is an outline, or plan, that captures your social media goals and tactics, along with metrics to measure how your plan is performing. A lot of brands utilize “SMART” goals which is an acronym for something that can help reach your goals. S: specific, M: measurable, A: achievable, R: relevant, T: time-bound.

Having goals like “SMART” goals for your social media marketing will be beneficial to your brand in the new year.

Specific Goals

  • For specific goals, this should be something your entire team can understand. A specific goal should not be confusing or able to be misinterpreted by anyone. An example of this could be something like “I want to post on each social media platform we use (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) at least two times a day on each.” This is an effective specific goal because it can not be twisted in any way to where confusion is created across your brand’s team.

Measurable Goals

  • A measurable goal is as straightforward as it sounds. It is able to be measured with something numerical like “50 comments or 1,000 engagements.” This is beneficial in that you can quickly see if you are meeting your goal or not, and how to plan accordingly to increase your numbers.

  • As an example, take Merge Home, our interior design client and the results we have seen in 6 months. For engagement across Facebook and Instagram, we have seen a growth of 615% on Instagram and 742% on Facebook in less than 6 months. As for impressions, we have seen an increase of  813% on Instagram and 2,100% on Facebook in less than 6 months!

Achievable Goals

  • An achievable goal is subjective to your brand or company. This is to help you and your team stay on target to reach a goal by a certain date. This needs to be a reasonable ask, and something you are confident you can achieve with specific tactics to do so.

Relevant Goals

  • Relevant goals are important for your brand values and not only the current values, but long-term objectives. These goals need to stay on target with your core mission. If you are unsure of your brand’s mission, that needs to be the start of the process. No goal can be complete without an overall mission you try to consistently share with your audience.

  •  Our social media agency, Treebird Branding, takes your brand’s story and gets the results that matter with the way your story is presented. After all, a brand is an expectation. What your expectation is, exactly, is up to you and how you’re willing to define your audience. Social media marketing does not have to be impossible to do right, which is why we are here to help. We will help you get a focused design that captures what’s unique about your business and speaks honestly and evocatively to your target audience.

Time-Bound Goals

  • Time-bound goals are important not to leave out, because this is where the motivating factor really lies. Having a timeline of how you will achieve your goals is necessary in having a successful social media marketing plan. It will help you stay on task, and give you an idea of the work you still have to complete.
